Notes:

  • The final display page, such as ML gets its text content by means of PluginInclude instances, fetching the text from another page, such as ML_Included. This is to separate text, which may need to be updated, etc., from the layout code, which can be rather complex and generally doesn't need to be changed.
  • Pages like ML can then be multilingual by making a translated version of pages like ML_Included, named something like ML_Included_fr, and putting the PluginInclude instances in ML inside PluginLang instances. The lang plugins then tell the include plugins to fetch the right content strings to match the user's language preference or browser language.
  • In principle, this page should only contain text and no layout code.
  • On this page, the lines starting with two forward slashes ("//") show the beginning and ending of each piece of text to be translated.
  • The lines starting with two forward slashes should not be changed because the include plugins use them to identify the text to be included in each instance.
  • Simple page elements in layout code, like anchor tags (links) might be ok in the included string especially to strike a balance between the simplicity of each include instance and the total number of instances.
  • Any text inside of HTML syntax — inside angle brackets ("< . . . . >") — or Tiki's syntax — curly braces ("{ . . . . }") — should not be changed in the translation process.
